This is a cover of the Jimi Hendrix song (whose original version is already on my list of favourites). This version is quite a bit different than the original and just as great. More majestic. From the Layla album of course.

Another for the Song Hall of Fame... "Key to the Highway" by Derek and the Dominos.

This is an old blues song that was covered by Eric Clapton et al on the Layla album, which I love. I've been listening to music a lot on my work trips around Ireland, mostly, over the past few months... so just the idea of a song about the highway really fits in ( Read more... )

Another song from Derek and the Dominos' Layla album for the Song Hall of Fame... "I Looked Away"

The Layla and other assorted love songs album just has a certain mood i like. This song is another in which Eric Clapton professes his love for George Harrison's wife, Patti, who he of course would go on to marry.

Receiving the DRAHoF seal of approval today.... Derek and the Dominos.

Derek and the Dominos only made one studio album, but what an album it is !  The album, of course is "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" and it's a bluesy guitar-y rock album full of emotionally-charged, yearning love songs inspired by Derek's unrequited love for Layla.
